The Mulliner division will be celebrating Bentley's 100th anniversary next year with the release of a Mulsanne special edition. It is a tribute to the company's founding father, W.O. Bentley and includes a piece of one of his automobiles.
The special model can be ordered with a standard Mulsanne, Mulsanne Speed or Mulsanne Long Wheelbase. It was inspired by the 1930 8 Litre Bentley owned by W.O. used as his personal car. The influence of the car can be felt throughout the interior as well as the Mulliner illuminated cocktail cabinet that features an opening window that shows an original crankshaft of the 8 Litre that is displayed inside.
Other highlights include a chrome application running backwards along the side of the car, which has an air vent in the shape of a B that incorporates W.O. 's signature, a front grille patterned following the 1930s-inspired Onyx color of the limited edition, and a chrome application that runs around the lower spoilers to the left and right. The front grille also has a unique design, with chrome-colored shells replacing the body-colored mesh of the Mulsanne. It also has the Flying B Logo.
Key boxes engraved with the Bentley wings can hold two keys, and comes with a black flock lining, while individual key pouches are available to complement or stand out from the key box. The set includes a custom 1:18 scale model of the 8 Litre and an air-borne 'B' paperweight, plus an illustrated brochure that includes previously unpublished images of the original 1930s 8 Litre.

The metal-to-metal knurling on the key fob mimics the textures in the interior, like the controls for temperature in the seat as well as the shift knob. "We wanted the knurling to be as uniform and elegant as possible," says Van Braekel. It was important to keep the dimensions and shape of the fob consistent.
Bentley Mulliner customers can specify any color in the Bentley portfolio for their Bacalar as well as any combination of veneers, hides and bespoke embroidery. Bentley's signature diamond in diamond quilting is applied across the entire cabin, with more than 400,000 stitches. The lighting in the cabin can also be adjusted to accommodate different moods.
